Hello, there! My name is Rosemary, and I'm a native San Diegan who loves to create art.
A little bit about me.
I am a San Diego based graphic designer, with over 20 years of experience, specializing in layout and print design, illustration, and brand identity. I have a long history working in the photography industry, with expertise in commercial post-processing and print production.
Throughout my career, I've acquired a diverse set of skills, including creative direction, product database management, print production management, photography, image retouching and post-processing, and lots of graphic design for marketing campaigns, brand identity, business collateral, products, packaging, websites, and more.
As a freelancer, I am excited by the opportunity to create high-quality, engaging art for my clients. My style is largely centered on rich colors, bold imagery, sketchy illustrations, and organized layout. However, I am inspired by many different looks and ideas, and ultimately cater the style of my projects to my clients' tastes and needs. Good art is effective art, and no two clients' needs are the same.
Plot twist... my background isn’t in art.
Although I am currently working as a designer, my first love is science. I studied biology in school, and continue to be fascinated by the world around me.
My love of science naturally coincides with a love of nature and animals. I have a great appreciation of our planet, and everything living within it. I am especially interested in birds, and spent the better part of a decade raising endangered species of toucans prior to becoming a designer. At the same time, I have always loved drawing, and have been carrying sketchbooks around since my college days. Somewhere along the way, I was introduced to Photoshop, and my career slowly shifted from Aviculturist to Digital Artist. My natural curiosity has always driven me to keep learning new things, and, over time, what started as a hobby, eventually became a new career.
I still love science, nature, and birds. All these lifelong interests continue to be a big part of who I am, providing inspiration for my art, and adding purpose to many of my projects.
So, what am I like, as a person and designer?
I am curious. I will ask all the questions, and look for all the options. I love to learn new things, and continuously strive to find better ways of doing what I do.
I am tenacious. I do not give up easily. I will make it happen, whatever “it” happens to be.
I am meticulous. My work is done right. I check, refine, and check again. I use industry best practices, and I value hard work and high-quality output.
...and if I'm not at my computer working, I'm probably outside!
